5-a-day is a personal project I built to make daily maths revision less intimidating. When preparing for exams, I found the official Corbett 5-a-Day website daunting to use: the interface was cluttered, navigation was awkward, and it often left me and others in my class frustrated rather than focused. To address this, I built a clean, minimalist version in a single school night, where students could select their level and topic and receive fresh questions each day in a distraction-free environment.
The app also introduced progress tracking, letting students keep notes on which questions they found hard and how well they did per exercise. Importantly, all of this data stayed on the device, respecting student privacy while still supporting reflection and improvement. The response was unexpectedly strong — on launch, the app reached over 20,000 active users, showing how widespread the need for a friendlier and more structured revision tool really was.
